In brief

What works, what to weigh

+

Strengths

3 reasons to book
  • Location and transport — The hotel sits right at Porta Maggiore, with metro, bus and tram connections close by. Reviewers call the location marvellous for reaching the sights.
  • Helpful, welcoming staff — Guest reviews repeatedly mention friendly and helpful staff who give maps, tips and practical help. Service is also the higher-scoring side of the hotel.
  • Rooftop terrace and renovated rooms — Several guests highlight a clean, renovated room with a nice bathroom and a rooftop terrace, along with a well-maintained building.

Worth weighing

3 to weigh
  • Breakfast is the weak point — The dining score is the lowest category. Guests describe a decent spread of bread, prosciutto and Italian sweets, but limited choice, no fruit and coffee that didn't impress.
  • Room consistency varies — Rooms and cleanliness score only 6. One guest who booked a king room was set up with two single beds, and another noted very poor views.
  • Front rooms catch street noise — Rooms facing the square have a view, but reviewers warn they pick up a bit of traffic noise.

8.1Verified guest

“We liked the location — not right in the centre, but easy to reach by metro, bus and tram. The room and bathroom were very clean and recently renovated with nice materials. The hotel is in front of Porta Maggiore; rooms facing the square have a good view but pick up a little noise. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was decent with good bread, prosciutto and Italian sweets, but the choice was limited — no fruit, little cereal variety and no wholegrain options, and the coffee wasn't good enough.”

Getting around Rome

The property sits in Rome.

The square: Hotel Latinum faces Porta Maggiore. Rooms on this side have a view of the square, but may pick up a bit of street noise.

Getting around: The centre isn't right on the doorstep, but reviewers say metro, bus and tram stops make it an easy base for getting across Rome.

Eating out: Guests mention local eateries nearby for casual meals. The hotel itself has a snack bar, a bar/lounge, a coffee shop and in-room breakfast.
